A guide for your Carefree care search

A screen changes the visit, not the questions

Remote care can be a conversation. Ask how that conversation works before accepting a treatment.

Ask whether remote care fits

Telehealth means receiving care without sitting in the same room, for example through video.

Under Arizona’s October 3, 2026 rules, the person treating you must judge whether a remote visit can meet your health needs.

That judgment considers your symptoms, health history, age and access to care. It also considers whether you need hands-on care or observation.

An examination may still be needed. Ask how the service arranges that step.

An in-person first visit is not universal

Arizona’s rules checked October 3, 2026 do not require an examination in person before every telehealth prescription.

The person treating you still needs a suitable examination and must work within their licence.

Some medicines have extra rules about examinations, under the October 3, 2026 record.

Ask whether this particular medicine needs an examination in person or by live video before it can be prescribed.

Check authority for Arizona care

As of October 3, 2026, some people licensed to give care in another state can register with Arizona’s matching licensing board for remote care.

That registration requires a qualifying licence without restrictions, suitable insurance, and compliance with Arizona’s care rules. Past discipline can affect whether the person qualifies.

This registration does not allow office visits in Arizona; those need an Arizona licence.

Ask the matching Arizona board to check the person’s authority for your visit.

Narrow registration exceptions include emergencies and certain aftercare visits. Other care rules still apply.

Make room for your own questions

The Federation of State Medical Boards writes guidance for boards and says patients need a way to raise questions after their visit.

Its guidance is not a nationwide law; Arizona’s own requirements govern Arizona care, as of September 26, 2026.
